Second Nature·Dojo

Privacy Policy

Your practice stays yours

Effective date · September 6, 2026

Second Nature Dojo ("the app") is a martial-arts forms practice-review tool developed by Jeff Dickerson ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what information the app does and does not handle.

Short version Second Nature Dojo has no account system and no servers of its own. Your library, playlists, settings, and practice history are stored on your device, and — only if you turn on the optional iCloud sync — in your own private iCloud. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store on any server, or transmit to ourselves or any third party:

The app does not ask you to create an account and has no login.

Information stored on your device

To function, the app saves the following locally, in its own storage on your device:

Unless you turn on iCloud sync (see below), this data never leaves your device except when you explicitly choose to export or share it. Deleting the app removes the local copy.

iCloud sync

Second Nature Dojo offers an optional setting (Settings ▸ Data ▸ Sync library with iCloud, part of the Pro subscription) that keeps your library, combos, playlists, categories, settings, and training log the same across the devices signed in to your Apple Account.

Microphone and speech recognition

If you use the optional hands-free "voice" practice mode, the app listens for the spoken commands "next" and "back" to advance through a form.

iOS will ask for your permission before the app can use the microphone or speech recognition. You can revoke this at any time in the iOS Settings app.

Text-to-speech

Spoken prompts are generated on your device using Apple's built-in speech synthesis. No text is sent off the device for this.

Subscriptions and payments

Second Nature Dojo offers an optional "Pro" subscription sold through the Apple App Store.

How your information is shared

We do not share your information with anyone, because we do not have it. There is no advertising, no data-broker relationship, and no analytics provider. If you enable iCloud sync, your data passes through Apple's iCloud (see above) but not through us.

Export and sharing

The app lets you export an individual form, a category, or your whole library as a JSON file through the iOS share sheet. When you do this, you choose where the file goes (Messages, Files, email, another app, and so on). Anything you share this way is under your control and subject to the privacy practices of wherever you send it. Exported files contain the content you created; device-specific identifiers are removed.

Analytics and tracking

The app contains no analytics or tracking software. It does not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA) and does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it does not track you.

Your rights

Privacy laws in some regions (such as the EEA, the UK, and California) give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal information a company holds about you, and to know whether it is sold or shared. We do not hold any personal information about you and do not sell or share any, so there is nothing for us to retrieve or delete. Data stored on your device is under your direct control through the app and through iOS.

Children's privacy

Second Nature Dojo is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone. Because the app collects no personal information at all, it does not create a specific risk to children's privacy.

Data retention and deletion

App data is stored on your device, and — if you enabled iCloud sync — in your private iCloud. To delete the local copy, delete the app. To delete the iCloud copy, turn off sync and remove the app's data in the iOS Settings app under your name ▸ iCloud. We hold no copy of your data and therefore have nothing to delete on our end. Subscription records held by Apple are governed by Apple's policies.

Security

Because your data stays on your device, its security is provided by iOS and your device's own protections (passcode, encryption, and so on). We recommend keeping your device software up to date.

Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date above revised. Material changes will be reflected here before the version of the app that relies on them is released.
